The Circuit de Catalunya is located in Montmeló, a suburb of Barcelona. Accommodation can be found a few kilometres from the circuit at prices that are not extreme. But honestly, if you're going to commute, isn't it better to stay in Barcelona and enjoy its bars, restaurants, sights and nightlife? Of course, it is!
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, with a population of 1.6 million not including the suburbs. And, of course, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain. So a few tens of thousands of people heading to the races can easily be accommodated by the city. The good news is that, while accommodation prices in Barcelona aren't the cheapest, they don't get more expensive during the Spanish Grand Prix.
