METRO IN BARCELONA

Barcelona has an excellent public transport system, with a clean, reliable and affordable metro.

  • One of the best ways to save money on transport is to buy a T-casual card, which gives you up to ten individual journeys on the metro, trains, buses and trams within the city centre. A T-casual card costs around €10, which is much cheaper than buying individual tickets each time you travel. Remember that each journey must be completed within 75 minutes and does not include airport transfers or trips to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Remember to validate your T-casual each time you enter the metro station - it will be stamped and returned to you.
  • Another option is the Hola BCN! card, which offers unlimited travel on Barcelona's public transport for 2, 3, 4 or 5 days with a single ticket. Prices for this card vary from €15 for two days to €35 for five days. You can also find a map of the Barcelona Metro by clicking here
  • It is important to note that metro tickets do not include access to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya by train, you will need to purchase a separate ticket for the Renfe regional service to Montmeló.
  • Barcelona also has an extensive bus network and a night bus service, and the T-casual can also be used on buses. This allows you to take a bus to the metro station, travel around the city on the metro and then take another bus to your destination - all for the cost of one ticket if your journey takes less than 75 minutes.
  • You can also buy your metro tickets at the automated kiosks located at the entrance of every metro station.

How to use metro when travelling to the circuit

Option 1 (metro-bus)

  • From anywhere in Barcelona, use the L1 (Red Line) and head to Arc de Triomf metro station. This station is conveniently located near Estació del Nord bus station, where many shuttle buses depart for the circuit.

Option 2 (metro-bus-walk/shuttle)

  • Once you arrive at Arc de Triomf, exit the metro and transfer to the Rodalies de Catalunya train service (commuter train). You will need to take the R2 Nord line in the direction of Granollers Centre.
  • Stay on the R2 Nord line until you reach Montmeló station, which is the closest train station to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The train journey from Arc de Triomf to Montmeló takes approximately 30 minutes.
  • From Montmeló station you can walk to the circuit (approximately 30 minutes) or you can take a shuttle bus
